Why chemistry on
mobile phones / tablets?
When I got my first tablet
few years ago, it was an Android powered device with almost no support for any
kind of offline chemistry modelling. I was angry with the situation and searched
for ways how to run at least some small and old codes - mostly in DOSBOX. A
summary of my older attempts is available here. Nevertheless, this way seemed to
be quite inefficient compared to native code running directly in the shell.
Therefore, the idea was to collect a bundle of open source software across
chemistry and try to adapt it for the target machines. The aim of this website
is to present some recent progress in the field and help other enthusiasts with
passion for chemistry to run few nice and representative chemistry modelling
apps on their non-conventional hardware.
Currently available
possibilities
Up to now, broad area of
methodology approaches nowadays frequently used in theoretical and
computational chemistry have been covered (to some extent, of course) by
the programs presented in this portal. To get an impression, following
scheme might be useful.
