Post-Doc Position in Astrochemistry and Astrobiology of Venus

A post-doctoral position focused on the experimental exploration of photochemical processes on Venus is available at the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry in Prague, Czech Republic. This position involves close collaboration with the Institut für Weltraumforschung, Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften, Graz, and is funded by the Czech Science Foundation.

Type of Contract: Temporary (2 years), with the possibility of extension based on follow-up projects.

Job Status: Full-time

Expected Start Date: January 2025 

 

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. (ISCED Level 8) in natural sciences with a specialization in chemistry, physics, or geochemistry.

  • Experience with spectroscopic techniques such as OES, AAS, IR absorption, and mass spectrometry.

  • A primarily experimental focus, with strong skills in data evaluation and a solid understanding of theoretical principles.

  • Excellent proficiency in English and Czech (writing and reading).

  • Understanding of Slovak is also required.

  • Significant and well-documented experience abroad (outside the country of residence).

  • Knowledge of additional world languages (e.g., German, French) is an advantage.

  • Documented academic awards are an advantage.

  • Experience with programming languages is an advantage.

  • A valid driver’s license (international or EU-recognized) is an advantage.

  • Extensive experience in experimental science and fieldwork is an advantage.
