Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Space Chemistry and Technology
Job Description:
The J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Department of Space Chemistry and Technology. The department focuses on instrumentation and development of new experimental methods in order to develop new space applications. The position will focus on scientific activities focusing on the design and construction of new prototype mass spectrometers for in-situ analysis of extraterrestrial material. The scientific work will include experimental work, data evaluation and interpretation, publication and presentation of results, etc. Experience with vacuum apparatus, high-resolution mass spectrometers, their design and construction, and working with ions in the gas phase are highly welcome.
Job Requirements:
Completed PhD studies in physics or chemistry
Czech language at communication level
English language to enable scientific work in written and spoken form
Specific requirements - experience in:
Mass spectrometry (especially high mass resolution);
Working with high vacuum equipment;
3-D model design (AutoCad);
Simulation of ion trajectories in ion optics (Simion);
Design and implementation of electrical circuits;
Design and implementation of RF traps and transport multipoles.
Expected start date: 1.5. 2025 or by agreement
Duration of position: 36 months
