Abstract:
The proposed project addresses the key issues of the synthesis and catalytic application of palladium nanoparticles supported by mesoporous molecular sieves. New type of heterogeneous catalysts based on Pd-nanoparticles deposited on solid supports -- modified or unmodified with basic functionalities or centres -- will be developed for applications in C-C bond formation reactions of the Heck and Suzuki type. These catalysts will combine high activities of palladium catalysts with suitable chemical andtextural properties of parent mesoporous molecular sieves. Proper combination of the size and concentration of Pd nanoparticles with external or in-support available base should provide highly active catalysts for intermolecular or intramolecular Heck reactions and Suzuki cross-coupling between phenylboronic acid and various aryl halides. Last but not least, particular attention will be paid to the deactivation processes, metal leaching, and reusability of the prepared catalysts.
