"DNA origami as a programmable engineering platform for metal nanoparticles and proteins"

Short abstract of the talk:
Structural DNA nanotechnology allows for the self-assembly of programmable three-dimensional nanoscale objects. We have incorporated modified oligonucleotides into DNA origami nanostructures to provide molecular recognition sites for the defined placement of functional proteins and metal nanoparticles in desired patterns. Additionally, we have modified oligonucleotides to include a hydrophobic fluorous on one face of the DNA structure which directs the orientation on a surface. In this presentation I will give a summary of these projects along with the development of nanopatterned surfaces which control the position of the DNA structures and aim to combine all these aspects to engineer a programmable DNA platform for the precise arrangement of functional materials with nanoscale control.
