Elementary schools and kindergartens

The Department of Education systematically collaborates on educating preschool children and students of the 1st grade of primary school through a series of educational programs introducing natural sciences, which are carried out in cooperation with teachers or parents.

For the target group of preschoolers and students of the 1st and 2nd grades of primary school, we have prepared a series of interactive programs:

1)    Chemical theatre Shine a rainbow with a lemon
Through simple experiments, we introduce children to a range of tools in the chemistry laboratory, introduce them to the profession of a scientist and explain some principles and facts, such as how electricity is generated in batteries and what sour-tasting substances in the kitchen or cleaning products in the bathroom can do.

The theatre lasts about 50 minutes and is suitable for pre-school children of kindergartens, who we visit upon agreement with the teacher, or for students of 1st-3rd grades of primary school, who visit us at the Institute.

For more information and booking see the webpage 3 nástroje (in Czech).

2)    Chemical workshop When chemistry meets me some day
The simple experiments, lasting 2 class lessons on various topics, take place in the Institute's Chemistry EDU classroom and are suitable for 4th-6th grade primary school students.
For more information and booking see the webpage 3 nástroje (in Czech).

3)    Chemical workshop Chemistry is not lame
The workshops are prepared for 7th-9th grade students of primary schools (and the corresponding grades of eight-year grammar schools) and include two tasks that introduce students to some principles of chemistry, physics or biology. Students will acquire this knowledge through experimenting in the EDU classroom. The workshop lasts about 3 teaching hours.
For more information and booking see the webpage 3 nástroje (in Czech).

4)    After-School Chemistry Groups
We provide year-round science education in the form of chemistry groups. Students are educated through experiment once a month - on Mondays or Tuesdays (from 3-6 pm).  The group is suitable for 11-14-year olds with an interest in science.
For more information and booking see the webpage 3 nástroje (in Czech).

5)    Saturday chemistry classes The road to the Nobel Prize
We work with children and students in the Institute's EDU classroom transformed into a laboratory with real laboratory equipment and small instruments, following the principles of work safety. We teach them to ask questions and find solutions - to be creative! The course covers nine different science topics, we run it once a month (except for the June and August) and it is divided into three types: A) pre-schoolers and students up to 8 years old; B1) 9-11-year olds and B2) students 12-14 years old.
