Postdoctoral Position in the Molecular Modeling of Processes in Enzyme Assemblies
The Timr group at the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry in Prague is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to work on multi-scale modeling of dynamic enzyme assemblies.
Our research group focuses on the computer simulation of the cell interior. Using multi-scale computational models, we aim to elucidate the physical and chemical mechanisms governing the organization of metabolic pathways in living cells. Supported by the Lumina Quaeruntur Award and a grant from the Czech Science Foundation, our team is integrated into the interdisciplinary Department of Computational Chemistry. This department bridges the physical chemistry and biophysics of proteins and membranes with theoretical enzymology and spectroscopy.
The postdoctoral associate will contribute to the implementation and deployment of a multi-scale framework to couple molecular simulations of enzymes and ligands in dynamic enzyme assemblies with kinetic models of metabolic pathways. This framework will allow us to explore mechanisms underlying spatial organization and control of metabolic pathways in cells.
The initial contract period is for one year with the possibility of extending up to three years.
Requirements:
- PhD in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Computational Biology, or a related field
- Proficiency in scientific programming (e.g., Python, C, C++)
- Strong skills in developing and implementing mathematical models of molecular processes
- Experience with coarse-grained and all-atom classical MD simulations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience with protein modeling, computational software development, and developing software interfaces to integrate different simulation programs will be considered an asset.
Benefits:
- Pension contribution
- Language courses at a reduced price
- 25 days of vacation + 5 days of personal leave and 3 sick days
- Flexible working-time, the possibility of part-time work, work-life balance
- Pension contribution
- Possibility of attending children groups of the CAS
- Possibility to use discounts in recreation centers of the CAS
